Church of Our Lady Of The Pirates (Crkva Gospe Gusarice) The church is actually dedicated to Saint Mary. The church was built from three components. Three church naves of the same size, are connected with interior archs.
The oldest church is the one in the middle (XVI. c.). Within the church are baroque altars and organs from 1670. The church folk name, originated from an interesting legend when pirates stole the painting of Lady.

In 16.c. Komiža was attacked and devastated by pirates from Spain. The chapel that existed then was robbed and burnt. Not long after that the boat with the pirates sunk in a storm and all pirates were killed. Their cargo ended up on the sea bottom. The only surviving object was the painting of the Lady, which waves returned to the beach in front of the burnt chapel.
People from Komiža built the churchagain and from that time on the church is known as church of Our Lady Of The Pirates


 

Church of St. Nicholas (Crkva sv. Nikole)

On the high ground above the town, Benedictine monks established st. Nicholas monastery, so called Muster. The locals still call it «Muster», meaning monastery. No Benedictine monks have lived there for a long time, however mass services are held there regularly. From the original monastery fort are two high square towers with romanic marks; The tower over the front of church 1770. was transformed into a bell-tower. The side towers are from XVII. and XVIII. c.


 

Tito's cave (Titova špilja)

In 1944. in a cave (during the World war II.) stayed the leadership of NOB with chief commander Marshal Tito. This is a very attractive tourist location. This site attracts many foreign tourists, who don't miss the chance to stand inside the caves.


 

Blue Cave (Modra špilja)

Located on the south-eastern side of Biševo island, and 3,5 km south-western from Komiža is the Blue Cave.
The cave is well known for the characteristic blue light that floods into the cave up through the water. The best viewing is from 10:30 until 11:30 in the morning during fair weather. The entrance is only navigable with vessels shorter than 5 m and not taller than 1 m.

 

Under the sea

The sea surrounding the island of Vis is known for an enormous number of archeological locality's; rich and different types of flora and fauna. It's possible to see amphoras, antique anchores, war and merchant ship's. Of the flora and fauna you can see are: corals, sponges, capital dasky serranus, swordfishes, and with some luck maybe even a mediterranean bear.
